This page will be a record of work and play over the coming years.
Watch out for ploughing, cultivating, cutting, and threshing.

Ploughing 1st April 2007

A line up of familiar 1950's tractors quickly got through the job of ploughing on a dry sunny morning.
The workers line up for the official portrait as work draws to a close. The soil turned over well and most stubble was buried to leave q clesn surface. The field was drilled next day with no further cultivation.
Peter Reade shows how it should be done . His I nternational plough was pulled by his 1955 Fordson Major Diesel. Note the added road mirrors for long distance road running. Peter is a regular on the 3 coasts Run which happens in June.

Threshing Day. Oats

16th Nov 2008

John Barnes likes to start the day with a good breakfast, one which can last all day. A favourite delicacy for all is fried egg and bacon batches, which John does to perfection. No cholesterol concerns here then. Lunch was baked potatoes with beans and cheese. All day coffee and biscuits are on offer.

Thanks to John and Judith we were kept fed all day. Thank you

Phil Moston keeps a sharp lookout for vermin. Rats and mice always provide plenty of entertainment for village lads in past times. Now the box is running smoothly chaff and cavings add to the air of authenticity.
Time for a breather. Sheaves pile up as we reach the half way mark with load number one. The sun catches chaff and highlights the belts powering the baler.
The weather picked up as the day went on. The sun brought out a good band fo helpers and a fair number of spectators with lots of good advice.
The rig consisted of a 1955 Nuffield, Ransome's Box and Howard wire baler,The Dexter (pictured) was probably the newest equipment working, dating from 1959
